Newbie- Which would you choose/avoid?

I'm down to deciding between these two machines. I see some obvious differences, like routing area and that one has a slotted top. I also see differences in the motor sizes and the screw types. Is there anything that makes one of these clearly better or worse than the other or are they relatively similar machines?

I'll be cutting/routing acrylic and wood.

In advance... I appreciate your input. I've been reading this board for a few weeks, although just registering today, and it's clear that some people know this stuff better than I ever will. I'm not looking to flame either machine. I'm just asking why someone would consider one over the other.
