Biesse rover 20 Fault

HI... I hope somebody can help.

I have a biesse rover 20 and its developed a fault on the screen. Everything powers up and turns on ok however the screen shows sort of white fuzz rather than the correct picture.

I have tested the power to it and that works fine... I believe its either the ribbon cable that supplys the video signal or its the bored itself...

Canyou buy parts for it? Or can you some how hoock up a normal moonitor to it? This machine is too good to scrap but from the sounds of it its going to cost me £7000 for a complete new controller :-(

Display

Hello

If the picture is a fuzz look carefully at the circuit board in the monitor ... (this assumes you can see the works and you do not have to remove a case).

All display boards will have several (or many) potentiometers, I would look for horizontal or vertical hold adjustments (usually written in white ink closeby) ... be careful move any adjustment no more than 10 degrees or so and be careful to put it back if no change is observed.

If all else fails send me a photo of the display and the monitor(especially of any adjustments you find.

Regards

Richard

hi,

Thanks for the advice.. i think saying it was fuzzy was a bit miss leading.. its all kind of white squairs with no colour in it.. ill have to get some pictureus.
It is not like a detuned TV.. more like bad signal on a Digital channel.. squaires and you cant make out anything on the screen

Hello Satori

I have a couple of questions ...

Where is this beastie?

And what was the last thing that happened when it was last working?

The ribbon cable ... how many conductors and is it damaged?

Regards

Richard

Hi...

Its near Bristol in England...

The weeks before it all went wrong it was working fine.. a couple of times we had a issue with the screen going blank.. i just popped the lid and pressed a few cables in and then it worked find after that....

The ribbon cable itself looks ok. however its one of them micro ones that has abotu 50 connections in it.. so something could be wrong with it and its too small to test with a meter...

Is there any way of hooking up an external monitor to it?

Ill get some Pictures ASAP

Thanks for all the help

Biesse America used to sell just the monitors, I installed several while I worked for them. You should not need to replace the whole control. If all else fails contact Biesse in Italy.
Kindest Regards,
MarkT.
