I need to finish this machine.

I bought an unfinished machine. Its good size, but not huge. 50x51x12 envelope.
Its designed well, and built pretty stout. I plan on using steppers as they will be cheaper to get up and running.

I will have questions, but dont know exactly what they are yet.

Any tips on long rails and ball screws would be helpfull.
The rails need to be HSR 25 and the screws .200" pitch. The stepper motors need to be 34 frame.

I am early in the research part of finishing this machine. Hope to be making chips by March.

Its alive!!
I have finished it!
Well, there is some little details to finish up but it cuts wood.
I have to chuckle, I said in my last post that I wanted to be making chips by March. That was March 2007. Its now over a year later.

Thank goodness CNC Zone is still here, I have new stuff to learn.
I will post some pictures of the completed monster soon.

i have a cnc and another ordered that i will get soon, but i must confess i have had this little bug to build one!!!! it must be sreaming in my ear as i have bought a servo controller and motors, some bearings and rails. it may not be the machione so much as my desire to learn to weld and work with steel better!! so i for one am watchin.
