I am new at this and trying to make stencils with fonts and designs from Corel Graphics Suite X3. My machine has Mach3 loaded with Artsoft. I would like to know how, after I create an image or name in the Corel program, do I save it so it will convert over to g code when I import itinto Mach 3 for my router to carve the stencil. I have been trying to add a .dxf tag and that doesn't seem to translate - the program seems to want a .tap extension to work. I don't know the basic clicks to get to the point from my text or picture in Corel to get the router spinning. Can someone please help me. Thanks for any advice. Peggy Cary |

| You need to export it from Corel as a .dxf or hpgl file. Then, depending on what version of Mach3 you have, you either use the .dxf importer or LazyCAM, one or the other should be under the file menu in Mach3. You then convert the file into g-code, which you save as a .tap file. Here's a Corel macro that may give you better results if you have problems http://www.candcnc.com/DXFToolDetails.htm

Thanks - it worked and I am grateful. Perhaps you could help me with the next issue - the conversion worked and the g code shows up on the Mach 3 screen but for some reason my router will now only hum a bit. It is as if I need to reset something. It still works okay with some downloaded programs (ie - Write German Bravo) that were loaded with Artsoft - however, those fonts are very crude so I really need to use the Corel. Is there something I need to do to reset Mach3 so that the router will work after converting Corel to g code? Thanks in advance. Peggy. |

| Do you have a feedrate in your g-code? Sounds like it's set too fast.
