| Hey All! I just placed an order for my first CNC machine (Shopbot 4'x8'). While I wait the 6-8weeks for it to be delivered, I wanted to try to get myself acqainted with the technology and goings on in the industry. I went to the bookstore, and they didn't have squat... So what magazines and/or books does everybody read? Also, if there is a book or better yet a video that is out there that could serve as an introduction to the CNC world that you could recommend, I would appreciate it! Thanks Dave |

| The best thing to do is read up on which ever software that your going to be using to generate your toolpaths with. Preferably get the software and play with it. There are tons on magazines for metal working machines( Modern Machine Shop, Tooling and Production Magazine, Metal Working Magazine, etc.) but I've yet to see any router specific magazines. Mainly just some articles in wood working mags. every once and awhile. Or you could gain all you can from forums, like here at CNCzone. As you probly know, Shopbot has a great forum. | There are a few industry trade mags, but they don't really have any CNC info in them.
