I have an older Thermwood router using proprietary controller (9100). This is a 286AT based computer that controls Siemans drives and servos. The machine has been working reliably until about 6 weeks ago, when I started getting a memory error. About a month ago, it all stopped. The hard-drive will not boot. I have ordered a replacement harddrive preloaded with Thermwood's o/s hoping this will get the maching back into operation. My Question is: Is there a reliable replacement computer control that will interface with my existing drives and large (13.0 amp) drive motors? Please note that I am working with a very tight budget in that hurricane Katrina and inadequate insurance took an awful lot of my working capital. I have been exploring Mach3 for the operating system, but it seems to me that there has to be more input on this before I proceed with ripping stuff out of my control box to put their stuff in.
Need info & help.
