CNC for inlay

Hey guys, I am looking for a good introductory CNC router that would allow me to do inlay work (requiring accuracy of +/-.002) as well as general woodworking. For table size, I think that about 24 x 36 would suit me well (this way I could fit it in my shed). I would also like the machine to work with G-Code & not some proprietary type of controller.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

GuitarEng,
I just bought a CAMaster SR-23 and sounds like a perfect fit. It is 24 x 36 with a resolution of 0.00011" running with Mach 2. I did some test and found the resolution to be right on the money.

Hope this helps,

Brian

Please try DragonCNC for Inlay

Hi, I am an amateur guitar builder. I have just released to free beta test a CorelDRAW hosted CNC package that was designed to do precision inlay. You can see it at http://www.DragonCNC.com. The support forum is at http://www.LeonardCNCSoftware.com and the picture you see on that page is an actual star shape pocket that was generated by the DragonCNC automatic multi-tool pocketing. I have a special algorithm for 'corner cleanup' to allow inlay of parts with sharp corners with the absolute minimum extra overcut
