| Hey guys, help me out. I need to buy a mill to cut mostly wood. Mosly stacks of plywood and foam that I'm milling 3d wave like patterns into. I need a bed that's 4'x8' and want a 3 axis machine with a motor stronger than 1hp, which is just too weak for my work. I would like to be able to mill material that is up to a foot or two thick. A vacuum bed would be nice but not required. I was hoping to upgrade to a better, new or used mill for between $10,000 and $25,000 but have no idea where to turn. Have been using a precix mill but dont' know what else is out there.. HELP!!! I took a look at an ez router, but it looks pretty flimsy. I need something tougher and faster I think. Any thoughts??? |

| For that money the only option I see is a used industrial CNC router. Go online you will find dozens of used CNC dealers willing to take your money, just make sure you go and check the machine out in person before the purchase and get one that is still supported with spares by the factory. For 25k you should be able to find one. Thermwood seems to have a good reputation. I'd shy away from the new routers made from extrusion. For plasma or torch they would probably be OK being non contact but not for a router too flimsy. |
