Yet another what to get thread!

Hey all! Firstpost here. I am new to the world of CNC routers, but have been doing a fair bit of reading up on them. I'm just doing this a a hobby, so my funds are quite limited. Can anyone point me to a good smaller machine with a turnkey cost of $1 - 1.5k? I've looked at XZero, Zen Toolworks, K2, Shopbot (some of these are of course over my budget). Thanks for any help you give!

    CNC Under $1500

    Hi Morrell:

You were looking for something in the $1 to 1.5K range:

LHR nows sells the Remanufactured CarveWright for $1399.99 plus $82 shipping & handling - under $1500.00!

It is a B model machine with all of the available C model upgrades, most importantly the new CarveTight Spindle. It comes with 6 month warranty and is remanufactured here at our facility in Texas.

You can, of course, add other things to it as your budget or skill level increases, but it includes everything to get you started. LHR doesn't force you into buying all of the bells & whistles (some people will never create 3d graphics).

    Some options:
    • Add additional 6 month warranty
    • Add Heavy Duty Traction Belts
    • Add any of our advanced software features like Centerline, Conforming Vectors, DXF Importer or STL Importer
    • Many different bits can be used and are available (beyond the two you get)
    • Scanning Probe for creating 3d patterns out of actual objects
    • Sanding Mops
    • Over 6000 Patterns, Projects, Collections and Subscriptions available, as well
    • Now, we have 3rd Party vendors (CW customers) that sell a Rotary Jig for carving a 2" round dowell and another that makes a Dust Collection system for the CW.
Sales & Marketing Manager for LHR Technologies, the makers of CarveWright.
