Looking to take the plunge (literally)...need advice

    Hi all,

I've been thinking about getting a CNC Router setup to compliment my laser and other engraving machine.

I don't have a lot of space in my shop; therefore, I'm looking for a small benchtop machine. I'll mainly be doing wood carving and possibly some box work.

I was looking at the ZenBot machine and it looks pretty good, but I wanted some expert opinions on a small turn-key type system.

    Thanks!
    -Ed

    Hi Ed --

Where are you on this, ...have you gotten the info you needed?

I am no expert, but I made a similar decision a few weeks ago and went with a Zenbot 1216. I had considered getting a Torchmate 2' x 4' with the router package or a K2 1414, but I kept coming back to the Zenbot. In the end, my decision was based on size, price and recommendations from owners. At 55-lbs, it is a machine that I can move/reorient if needed without having to get a crane. Price-wise it is hard to beat and the motion system is smooth with no slop. It is a medium duty machine and you need to work within those limits. I am just getting started with it, but so far I am very satisfied, and Shaun/Zenbotcnc is very helpful and prompt.
