Question need startup advice on routers

this is my first post here so thanks in advance for any direction i'm given.

I am starting a new business. I've built irregularly shaped exotic wooden 'bowls' by hand (chainsaw, grinder etc.) and sold them to friends and acquaintances for years. I decided to make a real go of it and switch to machine production via CNC router and I've had a nice prototype built.

The goal is to build units affordably obviously. Its been tricky getting an existing Router owner/operator to work effectively with me due to cost, machince time availability or timeliness of work contracted for.

I've taken some machine coursework this year at the local college and am prepared to buy a machine so that I can do production myself. Before I ask my question, a few key points about what I am trying to do:
    • The process requires A LOT of hogging out of wood material
    • The process does not require high specs. Finish work will be done by hand
    • The products I make would be in batches of 50 or more
    • I am willing to consider between 5-20K for a used machine if neccessary

Its my understanding that a high horsepower/high speed/high rpm/multiple head router would be best.

So, my question is what type and brand of machine to buy? I don't know which brands have a good rep. for this type of work and I don't feel confident in the small amount of experience I have with the value of different machine features (tool changers, vacuum tables, 4th and 5th dimension options, good servicing resources etc.) Anyone who can provide or point me to a quick tutorial would be a great help.

I assume Ebay is as good as anywhere else to look for such machines.

    Thanks
    Dan Coyle
