    Torchmate 2x2/BobCadCam/Art package

I've taken the plunge to a "real" machine. Today is spent $3065.00 on a brand new Torchmate 2x2 with Z axis and router including freight. I've also added Bodcad 23 with Bobart to the mix. I just got done with another toy machine, a CarveWright and i'm embarrassed at the fact that I have the same amount of money into it and i can't even get done what i need with it. In any case, the software will be here in a week or so. The machine will be here in about four weeks. This machine will be routing only with a little light milling. I don't currently have any interest in plasma cutting. I am however looking forward to a challenge per say presented on the CW forum. After being told that it was a great machine and not a toy, someone said to show them what I can do with a real machine. No i'm not going to make huge five hr run 3d carvings etc. but real work in real time. I appreciate in advance for any questions answered and hope to see a torchmate router section under woodworking. I believe these 2x2's have a lot of potential.

    Thanks and Best Regards
    MH

Once you get BobCAD down, doing a 5 hour full 3D run will be a breeze for you. It does have a "learning curve". It helps a lot to do the training they offer, but I think it runs around $750. The CDs are good as well, but pretty pricey too... Definitely head to YouTube and look at all the stuff they have posted there, and do the free Webinars when they are offered.

I appreciate the advice, i did get the training dvd's along with the cad/cam/art package. The last time I had my hands into a real Cad prog. was back in 2008 so it's been a while. That was autocad14. I do have some experience running machines. I should be ok. As far as videos and webinars, i run on dialup most of the time and have a wireless data card through a cell company that's extremely limited but i appreciate the thought. As far as the 3d work, i wouldn't have gotten such a package if i didn't intend to get to it. It's just not a priority yet. I've got other things i need to produce first.

    Thanks
