hello all,
Im new to cnc obviously. I need a machine that can cut wood (no metal) to a very smooth surface finish on all sides. I want to make little miniature harps out of wood. I found this roland mdx 40a w/4th axis and it seems to be exactly what I need. But before I spend 13000 on a machine Im wondering if there is another turnkey 4 axis mill that would be just as good at a fraction of the cost. Any good suggestions on a quality 4 axis wood router that would be just as good for less $?

If the working area suits you, go with the MDX-40A. Its easy to use, very accurate, reliable and can be used as 3D scanner. What more would you wish for?

I agree the Roland with their proprietary software looks good. Another route is to go Chinese and spend about half that amount (look at the chinese machine thread)
