Default 3000 - 5000 budget Which machines should I consider

Hello, I am an inventor and a craftsman in my spare time (which is not much these days).

I am looking for information on a well-built machine that can do as many of the following as possible:

    1. route 2D shapes in wood / aluminum
    2. cut 3D objects(and possibly scan/map 3d shapes for enlargement / replication in 3d out of wood)
    3. Work area of approxmately 3 feet by 3 feet
    4. repeatability (this is not rocket science stuff, but repeatability is one of my major considerations.
    5. low - volume work (the machine need not be lightning quick)

Can you recommend any machines? List your experience with them and if you have a website with samples of things yo have done I would love to see it.

    Thank you in Advance.

I did some web searching, and although I may have missed some, most of the 36" x 36" machines I saw started around $7000.

The only one I know of is the K2CNC. It's only 25" x 39", though. I recommend reading this thread before buying one, especially the messages at the end. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8660

Here's the link to the machine. http://www.k2cnc.com/KG-3925_detail.asp
$3100 with no motors or drives.
