Default Broken Z axis belt Tornado 200

    Hi
The Z axis belt has broken after a crash, looks like I should have changed the belt sooner, as it was in poor shape.
I cannot find anything in my manual on how to change the belts, well changing the belt is not an issue it is what to do after it has been changed?
Is there any additional setting up required or is it just set and forget after the belt has been changed?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards
    Burgs

Once the belt replaced and machine restarted and homed all should be fine.

    Hi Louis
I think it maybe a bit more involved, there are no homing switches or homing routine with absolute encoders on the Tornado!

The axis has an absolute encoder which is mounted to the motor, once the timing belt has broken between the motor and the ball screw all reference would be lost, and need resetting somehow?

Mechanically I think it would need to be moved against one or both of the end stop at a time and then resetting each somehow from there. There is a drawing in the manual that has these hard stops 12mm from end of Z travel (400mm) travel.

Here's what I reckon after playing around today.
Resetting Z axis after belt replacement
    1. Wind turret by hand to Z-12mm, Hard stop Chuck end
    2. Setup and zero dial indicator onto turret (15mm stroke gauge)
    3. Hand wind turret back 9mm = Z-3.000mm position
    4. MPG control to machine position to Z-3.000mm.
    5. Fit belt without moving the turret, check still 9mm on dial indicator and Z-3.000 on Machine position.
    6. Tighten belt
    7. Check again 9mm and machine position Z-3.000mm
    8. Traverse to Z-3.001 should alarm out Z- over travel
    9. Traverse to Z-3.000 alarm should be able to be reset
    10. Traverse in Z to Z+3.000mm should not alarm out
    11. Traverse to Z+3.001 and should alarm out Z+ over travel
    12. Traverse to Z+3.000 and alarm should be able to be reset

3.001mm is where the control goes into over travel alarm at each end of the 400 travel.
    Should be ready to go
    Anyone else know any better?
Have sent an email off to 600 Machinery, so hoping they will confirm this will work

    Best Regards

Yep that's not the way to do it, 600 Machinery supplied the correct way and turned out to be relatively easy, just had to get into the parameters, and zero the Z axis out 100mm from the chuck face.
They left a bit of info out regards resetting the parameters but found this in a Fanuc manual, so all good and so far seems better than before may be due to the new belt?
