Invitation to all Members. South Australian Inaugural CNC BBQ 24th April 2010

Hi Guys .. and Girls, For the last few years Benny has kindly hosted a CNC BBQ in Melbourne. Along with Frank, Ramon and Matty Zee, i attended the BBQ at St Albans last year. We met some wonderful people. It was a fantastic experience for us.

We would vey much like to put on a CNC BBQ in Adelaide next year. April 24th , and let Benny , Greolt and co sit back and relax. We will take care of all arrangements.

All CNCzone members are cordially invited. We hope to have a good attendance from members whether they be from Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Tasmania and even International guests.

As soon as we have some numbers of those attending we will contact the Mawson Lakes Hotel and see if we can get some low rates for accomodation. Mawson Lakes is a fairly new Yuppy type suburb only a couple of minutes away from our factory at Pooraka.

Please bring your wives and children. We are family oriented people and our wives will ensure plenty of activities for them.

The event will kick off on Friday night with a dinner in Adelaide somewhere.

Saturday morning we will have a fully catered Champagne breakfast at our factory, and then a CNC Demonstration/ Seminar until Lunchtime when Frank will cook one of his famous Barbecues. There will also be a display of our ten Mustangs ( some restored and others undergoing restoration ),and rides in them for interested people. Then an informal afternoon of chat, demonstrations, boozing or whatever.

Saturday night free for people to recuperate from the days proceedings, or to head into town for partying. Casino in Adelaide, Nightclubs, Strip Joints, or whatever.

Sunday we could organise a bus trip to the Barossa Valley and lunch in an old world pub.

We can organise to pick up anybody flying in for the event, and dropoffs at the airport after it finishes.

There may even be a large door prize that will require a trailer to take home! We will deliver to the winner.

I hope you will all come. The more the merrier. Just add your name and number of people in your group to this Thread.

    Rocket.

    Hi Rocket,
How could anyone into CNC not go with an event like that.

Count me and "the one who should be obeyed but rarely is" as starters. Never been to Adelaide so a tour and a ride in a Mustang and some good company sounds great.

Also happy to assist in any way I can.

OK the count is down - two attending from Perth.
    cheers,
    Rod

    Production sucks!

Looks like I will have to do a few days production so my stock level can allow me time for the short drive from Melbourne.

    Motel sounds great..
I still have some small carbide drills to finance my diesel expenses.

Get your orders together. 0.2mm - 2mm plus 2.4mm router bits.
All 1/8" shank, overall length 1.5"
Super X3. 3600rpm. Sheridan 6"x24" Lathe + more. Three ways to fix things: The right way, the other way, and maybe your way, which is possibly a faster wrong way.

Rod and Neil, It will be great to have yourselves and your wives here.

Rod, We were very impressed with the talk you gave on V Carve Pro last year. Any chance of another? Expect you probably have Aspire now. A few pointers would be well received.

Neil, Was good to read that your wife is also involved in the CNC with you. My wife is into arts and crafts and i hope to get her involved with the Routers at some stage.

Hope you bring plenty of your Carbide Drill and Router Bits along. Good opportunity for us all to stock up.

Forgot to mention in the earlier post. The Mawson Lakes Hotel is not your normal Pub. It is a very well regarded establishment and family friendly. Here is a link to their website http://www.mawsonlakeshotel.com.au/

    Hi Rocket
Just caught your post re: the BBQ.
I was lucky enough to get over to Benny's earlier this year in Melbourne, and it was a terrific day. Sounds like you have organised a potential winner.
I will definitely be there - probably talk my wife into coming too - after all, it's not that far from Willunga.
    look forward to it.
    Cheers
    Noel

    Ripper!

    Rod, Much appreciated. Thanks.

Greg, Very glad that you are coming.

Noel, Look forward to meeting youself and your wife.

My wife has suggested that i clarify a couple of points. Firstly, the breakfast on saturday morning. I would have liked to have a champagne breakfast, but wifey said it makes us sound like a bunch of boozers. This is not so. Glenn who works for us used to be a Chef. The plan is for him and some capable assistants to cook a good hearty breakfast consisting of Eggs, Bacon, Sausages, french toast and all washed down with some good old fashioned Coffee, Tea etc. It is all going to be informal.

Regarding the Barossa trip on the Sunday. Is there any interest in this? She is of the opinion that locals can go there anytime and probably would not be wanting to take a bus trip there, and interstate people would prefer to go home on the Sunday. So let us know if you like the idea or not.

Regarding activities on the Saturday, We will work on a fairly flexible program. Rod has agreed to give a talk on Vectric Software. We will have demonstrations on the CNC Routers. Perhaps a training session for Newbies. Hopefully some people can bring along some of their machines and projects.
Mach3 is very popular. How about some of our Electronics experts converting a small Chinese made CNC router to Mach3 on the day? Any takers?
Still a lot to organise. Everything is fluid at this stage.

Please keep those acceptances rolling in.

Put me in for a definite maybe, got the initial approval from the funding and projects department, just have to see how things pan out after Christmas/new year but I would love to make my way there, will be a pretty big road trip but we can incorporate some sightseeing along the way...all 3500 k's of it, lol.

If I can get there I should be able to do a simple Ubuntu/EMC install/configuration for a generic style router if anybody is interested, also on my to do list soon is setup closed servo loop feedback to the controller using a MESA 7i43, if I get that sorted by April I can run through that as well, maybe just with a servo (or three) on a desk but we could leave it setup and people can play with the PID settings without worrying about crashing a machine in the process and see what is involved with PID tuning on a servo system.

I work better to a deadline and this sounds like the kick in the pants I needed.

    Cheers.

    Russell.

Pencil me in for this one.

It's ANZAC Day on the Sunday so Monday is a public holiday. Is there normally a Dawn Service held on ANZAC Day nearby?

The wife and I don't mind a drop of Red so a trip to the Barossa would be of interest. I could use this as sweetener to get finance approval. Speaking of which any ideas on activities for the wives? Mine does the odd bit of scrapbooking if that is an option?

Looks like it will just be me attending, going to leave the tribe at home for this trip.

Looking forward to catching up with fellow zone members !

Hey Rod does this mean you don't get the most distance travelled this time ???

    Cheers.

Russell, Great to see that you are coming.
That would be one heck of a drive. 3500k`s! Where are you? Cairns or thereabouts? The big silver taxi makes for an easy trip.

If you do a simple Ubuntu/EMC/install configuration on a generic router that would be fantastic.......err i think! What is that?

John, I look forward to meeting yourself and your wife.

There is a Dawn Anzac Day Service in the city at the War Memorial. The city is only about 20 minutes or so away. It is followed by a March by the Veterans down King William St.

Scrapbooking is a favourite pastime for my wife and grand daughters. We will certainly organise activities for the Ladies. Maybe including a shopping trip into the City and Lunch. Will consult with the boss.
