Does anyone have a gas blower heater? We will refund you the gas costs.
I will edit the initial post to show all the details that have been decided.
Ivan, will the cars be there? What planning do we need to make about bench space?
Being outside the square !!!
Tell me about it!(My email notifications only works some times.)
I doubt that milling 1+2 and cnc machining 1+2 as well as cad and cam could be explained in thorough detail in a few hours, well, maybe?
I guess if most of the guests have built machines then most of the rudimentry stuff could be swept past in large 'brushstrokes' to get to the nitty gritty.
If a lot of younger kids show up the whole lot would have be 'brushstrokes' so as not alienate the beginners.
My public speaking is below par, do we have any sales reps amongst us?
Hi Guys , Greolt maybe just machine a few samples for display and every hour machine one up for a child on the days name tags or at your leisure. The rest of the CNC enthusiast that arrive on the 2 day event just can use masting_tape and black marker pen for name tags which will be at the front door upon entrance to the place. Their choice if they wish to wear a name_tag , this way frees up your time. You have been far to generous with you time at all the CNC_Australian events. As Greolt said someone else have a go at name tags give Greolt a break.
HOW MUCH OF A COVER CHARGE PRICE $ AND WHAT IS INCLUDED ON THE MENU ?
OK there has been many ideas thrown around, just remember a cover charge is for the amenities for the BBq and coffee/tea breaks i.e. sausage sizzle , coffee , tea ,tomatoes sauce , mustard , sugar , biscuits , paper/plastic, cutlery ,bread , salad ,soft drinks ( sugar & sugarless/low sugar ). The BBq will not be running all day at a specific time have lunch and dinner allocated or have BBq's in two or three hour intervals need some feed back on the thought. If someone wants a specific type of meat ( steak , lamb ,pork , chicken so on ) you will be able to cook it on the BBq's but you will have to bring your own meat. Cover charge will still apply.
Alcoholic beverages will NOT BE INCLUDED IN COVER CHARGE , this is purely up to the individual to bring his/hers acquired taste. There will be a fridge/or/ice box of some form have not decide which at this stage.
If we use the cover charge method we will need a door man to collect as there is nothing worse than " FREE LOADERS " sorry guys but I have to be straight to the point and transparent. Also will require a chef(s) to run the BBq's.
As to what money is collected on the days , maybe what is left over after all vital costs have been covered , raffle cover_charge_money_collected_left_over off as a door prize. But the prize winner wil have too purchase something of one of the sponsors on the day with proof and verification applying. Maybe the treasure of the day make the purchase order, no money is handed to the winner but the purchase is posted to them. If the purchase prices is more than what the raffle ticket winnings is, the person( winner of the raffle) has to make up the difference in the price. To run such a raffle people will be asked to sign in at the door and receive a raffle ticket number appointed to their name , so even if their not a the CNC_BBq event at the closing stages their still in the running to win this prize. The winner name will have to be posted in this thread after the event has ended.
Upon entering the door people will have to sign in as said before and BBq_cover_takings will have to match the books. All expense will need receipts and verifications so all runs smoothly.
This is just my ideas and appreciate any ideas that people might want to add or ask for clarification on.
Hi ynneb, the factory/warehouse will be the same as last time no changes. People will have to bring power leads and power adapters. Chairs and tables if people are holding show'n'tell machine ,speakers , stores , displays will have to bring there own. Depending on the number of people that put their hand up that their coming 100% with machines if more space is required some of my vehicles can be removed for additional space. Ynneb you will have to give me notification 3 to 4 days prier so I can move things. Otherwise same format as last time.
In the next week leading up to the CNC_BBq we will need a show of hands from people to help in running the event allocating you a choir to do on the day or days depending if your their both days. Remember this is a TWO DAY event so cover charge nominate a cash number ?? there will be expenses. This all has to be spelt out so people know what to expect if a cover charge is applied OR just everyone brings there own supplies ? Need input here.
Just my 2 cents worth

Sounds like it is going to be a well organised event (again )
I will volunteer myself to give a demonstration on setting up EMC, but on two conditions :
1 - I can actually make it to the day, I won't really know this straight away, it is mainly a funding problem at this stage, last time flights were about $260.00 bucks return so if I can snag them for around that price again I am there.
2 - There isn't someone more qualified than me who wants to give the demo, my experience is setting up my own machine with EMC using the stepconf wizard, standard machine - 3 axis with limit/homing switches. Standard step/dir setup so most people will feel "at home" with this kind of demo.
If somebody wants to do this then speak up, I will not be offended if there is somebody more suited then me to give a demo. I can't really demo setting up a machine using PWM/pulse generating cards (MESA 5i20, Pluto-p, HOSTMOT etc.) as I haven't done this yet, it is on the list though...
As an extra if anybody is interested I should be able to being down three servo's and drives and possibly give a quick demo on PID tuning servo's, the part that seems to freak people out when it comes to hobby machines running servo's as opposed to steppers. If there is any interest in this please speak up as I will need to build three drives in a hurry (no I will not take the ones out of my machine ! )
If somebody had a router carcass that the servo's could be jury rigged on for the weekend then all the better, it would be better to watch a machine move rather than servo's spinning on a bench. I would bring one but that may cause for problems with carry on luggage
I have managed to get some sponsors for the day. So far..
Once again the main guys who have supported us keep on going and we have some new supporters which is really great news.

Good prize sourcing Mike.
Artoft will pitch in a licence for Mach too. ( I havnt asked Art yet, but he ALWAYS says yes )
I'll try and get a SheetCam licence from Les too.
I'm seriously liking everyones initiative for this BBQ.
Russell, That sound excellent. Maybe you could also show people how to boot into EMC from a USB or flash drive, and demonstrate how they can have a dedicated CNC controller on thier primary windows computer.
Being outside the square !!!
I would like to register my interest, sounds like it should be a great event!
Hey, how about some name tags....with large letters....so, those of us you don't attend can at least tie a face to a name tag! Gotta say...you guys are having way too much fun!
Hi Benny and all
I have a small bottle gas blower heater which I can bring together with the Public address system (same as last time at Ivans) if wanted BUT will have problems in getting the router into the car with them - can things be delivered on Friday before and picked up Monday after???
I will not be able to be there on Sunday but the above could be left and used for that day and I will pickup Monday or as below
Maybe there is someone coming from Springvale South area that may help in transport?
Please let me know what to bring?
Thanks for the offer Frank. I have a PA system sorted now.
Would your heater be big enough for the building, or should we just hire one?
Guys let me be honest, The two day BBQ was not my idea.
I have doubts that it will enhance the meeting, and might come at the detriment to the Saturday. I have a feeling that most people will only come for one day. This will disperse the members over two days, and the numbers will be down on each day. If there are speeches, then some people will miss out on them depending on what day they come.
I suspect that some people exhibiting their machines might only come for the one day as well.
Anyway thats just my thoughts.
