    Cool, 4th and 5th.
A lot of stuff can be made in two days, are you planning a mini router table build up?
I'll be there with my little red one working this time, it's got backlash and flex and 150 x 150 x 100 workspace cube. (no big accurate jobs for me)
It was like christmas at the 9th. (sob, sob, I didnt win anything)

The date is the 4th and 5th (2 day event) of July, so bring you fire crackers and sleeping bags (if you like).
How set are we on these dates? For those of us who'll need to book flights, etc.

    .
Hello fellow CNCers , Mikie has cemented the date is the 4th and 5th (2 day event) of July 2009

There are many options as to the catering side of things. Any input would be appreciated and a show of hands who will be attending bring a friend or two. Spread the word around.

The shops are 2 minutes away from the venue even the bottleshops.

If people need details for recommended accommodations within the approxicity of the venue they will be posted in the next few days.

Other wise you can bring a sleeping bag and blowup mattress and sleep over in the workshop. I must emphasize blowup mattress not blowup dolls so it is very clear.

If you want 5 star accommodation and the red carpet treatment well you will have to go to the Centre of Melbourne.

Like Mikie said , input would be appreciated to ascertain numbers attending.

    cheers

    Hi Alan,

My Proxxon died... the electronics smoked it. I did however repair the circuit... it's a basic triac circuit, and you can get the components from Dick Smith. To avoid them blowing up, switch the proxxon on at lower RPM to start with.

I now run a Kress spindle... awesome solution.

Cover charge for the BBQ would suit me :-)

Tough weekend to make, but I'II probably attend one of the days for a few hours. Not with the CNC though.

Looks like I will be right for this weekend.

Over two days is a good idea. I never get time to talk to everyone I wanted to. One day goes too quick.

Perhaps we should try to work out what topics might be appropriate to run some classes on.

I will bring a machine. Decide which one closer to the day. Maybe a rotary axis.

Be great if we could get as many machines as last time we met at Ivan's

Anybody want to take on doing name tags? Does not need to be name tags, could be a new idea.

    Greg

    Venue Details (Updated)

    Hi Guys,

Sorry for the lack of Venue details on the 1st post, but I wanted to advise people of dates and venue ASAP to get people interested and booked on plane seats.

    *******

EDIT: New Venue location - Please refer to the 1st post for details.

    *******

Greg, great idea to try and set an agenda or presentation schedule.
If people would like to speak or demonstrate something, please include details in your response for attendance. I will try to post the schedule here as we gather details.

PS: To those who are planning to fly here or spend money getting there, we make no guarantees about how the day turns out. Usually the days are fantastic, but the variables depend on who comes, and what people bring.

    Thanks
    Michael

    Before I forget,

I would like to thank people such as Peter Homann who donate products to our events. I know that these are welcomed by the guys and as a recipient of a prize I know that I have already used my prize on my current machine

    thanks Peter.

    /M

WOW, great progress guys !!! The last time I looked at this thread it had a handfull of posts. (My email notifications only works some times.)
Its great to see others taking taking the initiative.
We need someone to send a mass PM spam to all previous attenders, and those who have expressed interest in the past. You'll need to go one by one through all previos threads and make a list. (PITA I know)
I'll hit those loverly software guys for a few free licences for the occasion. I dont have the heart to hit Gecko again, since thier last super generous donation.
We will also need a PA and Video projector. (Any offers?) Actually I will bring the PA. That just leaves the projector.

We will also need some guest speakers. Any ideas, and / or, offers.
Lets keep the speaches to 45 minutes max for individuals and longer if there are professional software presentations.
That 45 mins includes question time.

My dream is two video projectors side bu side. One for computer displays and one for live view of the items been talked about. A real MM presentation. I,d love to see some good power point presentations prepared. I'll bring the realtime video camera.

Some of the topics I'd like to see are...
CNC on a shoe string budget. (Discusses free CAD CAM and control software)
    Setting up Mach3
    Setting up EMC
What Free CAD packages are out there. ( Setup and operation)
CAM methods (Free and cheap software solutions)
Explanation of simple hand coding methods (Impossible to do in 45 minutes I know)
    And your suggestions.

Thanks to Ivan for his generous offer, and Mikie for carrying the torcn for this event.
I would like to nominate one of you guys to be MC for the event.

I will be there for the Saturday only.
    Being outside the square !!!
