ynneb,

FWIW, I agree with you, two days won't work.
It's a BBQ/get together of hobbyists and should be treated as such.

Heater

Hi Benny

The heater is small so suggest you hire one which will do the job.

RE two day event - I agree ONE day only- I can only come one day SWMBO want me to take other places on that weekend!

I have to say also that I really dislike the 2 day approach. I would only ever attend one day, particularly bringing a CNC and/or long distance. Bring a CNC would make it two full looong days. Usually keeping 1 whole day reserved/planned ahead is hard enough.

It would expect to miss seeing some of the machines and meeting some of the people. In fact, if they continued to be 2 day events, I may never meet some of the people by only going to a 1 day event. It is likely to thin the attendance out too, and those attending may not have reason to stay as long with less to see and less people to talk with. May take a while before it grows big enough for a two day event.

Well I thought the two day idea was good.

However I do understand the misgivings some have expressed.

One day or two, whatever it is, I plan to be there.

Smile ! or 2 days?

Hi All

I suppose I am biased when it comes to the 2 day bit, as I am probably the closest to Ivan's (7 minutes)

If it it is 2 days, I'll be there, with my small carbide drills.
If it is one day, I'll still be there.

Anyone need a 1000mm travel Ball screw in good condition?

See you all there, and I will likely have a few visitors if they accept my invite.

All X3 and X4 questions/problems welcome.

Neil

Hi,

I've been in Contact with Warp9 Technologies and Greg has agreed to be a Sponsor and donate a Smooth Stepper. I'll bring it along to the BBQ. I'll also have a few Smooth Steppers for sale as well for those unlucky ones who don't win the donated one.

For those who don't know, Warp9 produces the Smooth Stepper
http://www.warp9td.com/

The Smooth Stepper is a motion control device that connects to the USB port of a computer. It accepts commands from a software package such as Mach3, and produce very high quality pulse trains that drive step & direction motors. At this time the only software package it works with is Mach3, but a Software Development Kit (SDK) is planned, which will allow you to control the SmoothStepper with your own software.

I'm still deciding on what to donate, but at the moment my Development Laptop died (Again) so I'm busy in the process of getting a new one.

Cheers,

Peter.

Sounds like the BBQ is going to be a great opportunity for me to learn something so I'd like to register my interest.

Hi guys, Mike has contacted me to inform me that Ivan's venue is no longer available. We are now having the BBQ at my place. I have been building a HUGE workshop under the house (Its a pole house) I have 140 square meters of floor space under cover. It will be ideal.(Its changed since the original BBQs) The only down side, is that the driveway is a bugger. We could only get one trailor down at a time. So we will have to work around that on the day.Other than that, we will easily hold as many people and machines as we did at Ivans the last time. Oh and we'll have heating

Okay, ynneb...I just have to ask...why a pole house? They seem to be popular where it rains alot (rising water levels) and where it snows alot.
