Anyone?? Im now on week 4 of being over-due for my 90day evaluation per the employee hand book. Boss told me 3 times that he filled the paperwork out, but what he dont know is that I still see the form sitting in his printer bin. 2nd company that has jerked me around like this. $17 to run and setup a 9 axis machine is a joke!

| I seriously doubt that these people learned to lie from the government, it is most likely due to their upbringing or straying from that upbringing for personal glory/preseveration. Aaron, jobs are somewhat difficult to come by at this point of time...so temper your anger and realize that you're a better person and leave on your own terms (like when you have another job). But understand that the next employer may do the same. So, sometimes sucking it up and outlasting the other person may be the way to go, but make it your decision. Paul |

| Its just this isnt the career I imagined 6 years ago when I went to school for machining. I like machining and thinks its the coolest thing ever and feel I have become a really good machinist, but to get treated like a turd is just a slap in the face.

| Guess what, sunshine? There are no guarantees in life. You get what you get when you deal with other people. You think you are alone??? Change what you can, accept what you cannot. If you can do it better, differently...go into business for yourself. Otherwise...QUIT WHINING. It's pathetic. And useless. |

| Look on the bright side you still have a job. You might feel your present company is rip you off but in this tough time the company can face Chapter 11 any time, your boss is worry 10 times more than you are. Your skill is great helpful to the company but ask yourself that are you replaceble? If the answer is Yes and you can't take the heat in the kitchen than you know what to do. The one you will work for might be worse than the one you working for now, not all every company have multaxis machine...... so your skill can't apply and they won't pay you what you are ask for.

| CNCRim - Well put. Sometimes a bit of reflection will reveal alot. Aaron - Your boss may be embarrassed at not having it done when you have asked about, or lying about it for some other reason. When you next get a chance, find him in the office, walk in and pick up the paperwork you saw on the printer and ask him again when you're going to get your review. If you don't bring what you say you know out and discuss it with your boss you're just adding heat to the situation. Also, I get the impression that you are expecting some money along with the review. If this is the case, I wouldn't make make the mistake of getting too far ahead of yourself - pay increases are few and far between just now (with every customer calling and demanding a 10% plus cost reduction and such). You don't mention what area of the country you're in, nor what kind of product you're machining, but where I'm at $17.00/hr isn't doing too bad for a machinist with your experience - could be a little higher but there are a lot of variables there. Hang in there, and conduct yourself professionally with your boss and you'll both be the better for it! Rgds, John B |

| Did you ever notice, that the social environment is dog eat dog. You can't trust the fellow next to you to play straight?. This is just another way of keeping the management above the fray. They need to think that they are superior. I got the same treatment when I was employed for many years as a Master Pattern Maker at a global pump company. A $50 Mill. dollar net company. By coincidence, I later worked for my supervisor now out on his own and we had many conversations regarding these very themes. He left that company in disgust over what he was being asked to do. He had to be more verbose in his writing of performance reviews. More words just saying the same things over and over again. I guess they like to waste paper. Told to focus on the negative aspects of employee performance, and lessen, the achievements of individual initiatives to improvements and job performance. This is the very foundation of today's economic climate in the United States. When the management believes themselves entitled and superior by position and not by ability, we have chaos and outsourcing work and jobs. I later came to the sobering conclusion that what, we, as workers are really worth. We are worth nothing to them, expendable and easily replaced by more docile workers. I hesitate to say this but we are already getting too much for what we do. This ever escalating money madness must stop, or China will have it all and we'll all be poor and walking the streets. |

I agree with the basic sentiment that at the end of the day you either have to tough it out or go it alone. I've made my decision, and I'm working towards going it alone. But until OP figures out what direction he'd like to go in, why not have a little empathy? |

| Well. I have started a automotive high end racing products company in my spare time and it has been quite sucessfull in the 9 months is been around with over 100 shipments all around the world. Im also looking into become a carbide tooling dealer. I worked with the Sandvik and Kennametal reps when I was employed with Baker Hughes and took Sandviks online "Modern Metal Cutting" courses and graduated in a couple weeks. My knowledge of the carbide tooling sizes, styles, coatings, and tool holders is quite vast. I have 2 customers allready and have only been at it about 3 weeks and have made a pretty good piece of money for a part time guy. My mom said it best, "No matter where you go, the management will usually always suck. If you want to do things your way and make good money, then you better start your own business and never turn back!" She has been a independant insurance agent for 17 years now, and easily makes 6 figures.........

| I agree your lucky to have a job running that 9-axis cnc. A lot of guys (me) lost those jobs. I would rather run the cnc, problem is I would have to move, so now I'm back in school at age 39, getting back into pipe welding which is about the best paying available jobs close to home... ![]() If I was in your shoes, I would walk into the office (be very nice about it), & ask my boss to print me out something that was not related to the raise, I wouldn't say a thing about your raise, I would pick up the form sitting in his printer bin, & kindly ask "Do you need this"? Just to see what he says.
