Howdy to everyone. I am thinking about buying a Torchmate 1 diy kit and am researching all I can find on it. This CNCZone site is great. I appreciate any advice I can get on the subject.

I visited Torchmate Sept. '08. I never bought a machine. They seemed like a real nice bunch of folks; it seemed like a very professional organization as well. I believe the iron is from Taiwan and the motors and controls are added in Wisconsin assuming you buy it assembled. The machine may be ideal for what you do. They have some neat accessories also. I have a job shop and it doesn't seem quite right for the production work that I do. Business sucks and I'm not buying now anyway. The machine with its stepper motors makes some very strange sounds when more than one axis motor is running at the same time. A harmonics issue they believe. I haven't looked at their You Tube videos lately but the live demo I got seems to be right in line with what the videos showed.
