$$$ for encoder cable?

I did not want to put this in the RFQ section because I am not looking to buy anything.

Just wondering, what price are you guys paying for the encoder cabling? Per foot?
The stuff I am talking about is 4 pair, twisted, sheilded, with overall sheild.

Thanks,
Murphy

Buy me a Beer?

I use Belden 9891, it is $2.00/ft but IMHO it is the best you can use for encoders in a noisy environment. Two of the conductors is a larger gauge for power.

I made mine from cat5 network cable. I just made sure I bought the shielded kind, and got some connectors from the local electronics store. Total price was around £10 - look for network cables on ebay.

I bought premade encoder cables from US Digital and they were fairly inexpensive, (I think I paid $35 or so for three 6' cables with the proper connector.

I used serial com cabling for mine. I got 10' ones and cut in half for use on a mill/drill.
For the internal wiring in the control box, I use Cat5 cable.

Works for me.
