The first time my business received a Nigerian Letter was in the early 1990s when they arrived by fax; since then we have received then from many countries.

The sad, humorous, pitiful (your choice) aspect is that some people do get taken in by them.

Most times my email will catch this crap, not sure why this one got thru.

I think the letters are hilarious!

I'm not trying to be harsh here, but what's that saying "A fool & his money are soon parted", fits the old nigerian scams well.

Why would anyone believe that a stranger would give them $$, just becuase they have an email account, LOL?

[ I don't get many of these emails thanks to spam filtering but those I do get, I always replay to, asking how I go about getting my money. So far, I've never had a response ]

There's a site which excells in winding these people up- they keep them going for ages wasting their time etc.

They even have a false shipping company so that you can say you sent them the cash but: a)The boat sank, b)The plane crashed etcetc.

I'm not advocating anyone goes down this route- dealing with these people is not without risks, but reading some of the stories is a right laugh.

I found the 419eater site last week. One of the threads that they post has the scammer painting a " religious symbol" on his chest and sending them $80.00 for a "clearing fee" so that they can process a request to get $18,000. from their church to send the scammer. Hilarious read.
