Hello, I'm new to the site. Does anyone have a successful modification to a CNC machine to protect from carbon fiber dust? Are there any CNC machines designed specifically for machining carbon fiber? Special lubricants, modified way covers, increased maintenance? |

| Invest in a really good 5 Hp vacuum cleaning,,, maybe consider running a two duct air abatement system on the top shrouds on top of the machine. One duct on the top left & one on the top right just to catch any residual dust left floating in the air. I like to shoot the bottom of my cabinets down with a healthy layer of WD-40 to capture dust & hold it. I cover all drains with shop rags and I shoot them down with WD as well. I also recommend that you never run wet or you will fry all of your ways guaranteed. I do know people that run highly abrasive materials wet but they do it an ancient machine that they don’t care about but that only leaves a extremely miserable operator scratching his ass off all day long and very pissed-off at the world for having to run the job. Never blow air into the machine and always vacuum & wipe everything down. |

| Yeah I’ve heard those stories, they really seem almost like myths because I don't know anybody that's experienced the problem. The theory makes since especially if you were to start cutting pure carbon (cuts like butter) but makes tons of carbon dust. It only underscores that a good dust abatement method is a must.. Good luck and make lots of money! |
