Looking for a special part

I know there must be someone out there that has or knows where I can get the feed pawl mechanism for a Foley Power Retoother. I don't know the Model Number but I think one size fits all because Foley didn't change the basic design except to add a motor.

If anyone has any information for me Either PM me or e-mail me at oweenaco@contractor.net

Now let me tell you about myself. I started in the sharpening business in 1952. My father was a filer in the lumber mills and as I was growing up following him every where watching him sharpening various tools I developed a fondness for the craft.

One day (I think I was seven or eight) I took his favorite miserly whip (Crosscut saw) and proceed to sharpen it. (Made a mess of it I did.) My father caught me in the act and instead of busting my butt for it decided to teach me how to do the job right. My punishment for almost ruining his saw was to cut the winter supply of wood with it.

Over the years he taught me a trade that has made me a better than average living. I am now 76 going onto 77 years old and I still work 6 & 7 days a week. I love the work so I don't really feel tired at the end of a hard day which can be 12 to 14 hours at a stretch. Especially during hunting season where I go to little towns in the mountains during the hunts. In our state there are three two week hunts a year (Bow, black powder and rifle) . On a hard day I might sharpen 240 hunting knives.

I just put "Foley Power Retoother" into Google and got all kinds of interesting links ! seems a number of them are for sale as well. My thought is that with a bit of information, it may be possible to repair yours with some fine welding and grinding, depending of course on what is wrong with yours !

Thank you-Thank you-Thank you-I will check these sites out. There is nothing I can do to fix it as there is nothing to fix. If I had a picture of it I might be able to get a friend of mine to make me one.

Looks like it. Except not as clean. Mine has been laying in a farmer's barn for the last 20 years. Is this your machine and is it for sale? I could use this one for parts.

Also if anyone out there has a Acme handsaw filer for sale I would be interested.

I am more experienced with the bench model but have used the floor model as well.

Oweena,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=160279710692

I would make a low offer, they have had it for sale for almost a year.

Jeff...

I checked it out and $350.00 is a bit steep unless they would be willing to ship it for that price. I tried to contact them but for some reason eBay wouldn't accept my password.

Thank you for doing the search

Oweena,

Offer 1/3 of the asking amount, it has been up for sale for almost a year!

Offering the man 1 third would be trying to cheat him.in reality the machine is worth about $200 so if he would ship it for 350 that would be a fair price. I work these machines every day in my business and I have a good sense of their value.
