| I was thinking that if the competition was made to be interactive it might be more fun than merely just putting down the entrants name. If the comp was put in a thread, the entrants could see each others work. I was thinking that we could give a multiple choice of how a person could enter. 1:They could submit the best drawing of a gecko ( The lizard type) Either a cad drawing or a scanned hand drawing 2:The could tell a joke or a story about a gecko ( The lizard type ) Or 3:they could describe the most outrageous use for a gecko drive Just a few ideas anyway |

| I'd like to see 3 contests- 1- Write a article on hobby machine design or comparisons of machine designs, thk verse linear bearing etc. Or a article on a how to build a complete driver system using gecko drives. 2- Drawing 2-d or 3-d of a mechanically engineered part, such as a detailed drawing of a linear slide system, or gear box. 3- Design a new logo/banner for gecko drives. Please let me know it this is agreeable and what the rules should be-

| Sounds cool...I'd just recommend that for anything that's any degree of subjective grading, it'd be nice if you could put up a "vote one time" thread to get an actual "people's choice" sort of result. Ideally it should limit voting to people who are registered at the time of the announced contest (i.e. 'now'). Does your website software have such a feature? I've seen this used on other design discussion forums, and it seems to work pretty well. The general population is given a week or two to evaluate the entries and then vote. Also, if it will involve writing a paper or doing a design, please give a couple of weeks time to allow folks who don't normally have this type of thing in their desk drawer to come up with something of some value. -Chris |

| Yes we can do a poll, and allow only registered members to vote, and yes they can only vote one time.

| I must have missed the beginning of the conversation but for a contest I would like to see something to help the most people by creating something of value that members can use. An actual device or service which can be used by members to complete a task. I have a servo controlled lathe (7 X 12) with a tool post grinder which can be used to grind and prepare (thread) the ends of lead or ball screws (up to 3/4" diameter). The service can be done or the device itself can be loaned. The administration of the results of such a contest would be a problem. Just a thought ... don't yell |

| Maybe Mariss should be consulted first...if he hasn't been. I like any kind of contest and would love to participate in this or help. Makes me no difference. Mike
