Internet telephony ( Skype )

I was listening on the radio talkback today about internet telephony, and most of the callers were talking about a free program called Skype. Apparently there is a move for many small bussineses using this program to talk to overseas customers. All the calls are free if you want to talk via computer to computer, and there is a small charge if you want to ring a person via computer to their landline. Anyway I have downloaded the program and am keen to give it a try. If you want to ring Australia for free give me a call on ynnebbenny. It might be a bit of fun.

I notice there is a conference ability within the program, maybe we could set up a conference when we have our BBQ and you can come to a virtual BBQ. You just wont get to smell the smoke or eat the food.

I use Skype on a weekly basis to talk with my brother who is another state away. The software has just been updated and the sound is just like a regular phone. Try it you like it!

Well, I've spoken to a few people now all the way from Australia to the US and I am big time impressed. The quality excedes normal telephones and it is free. I wonder how long it will be b4 the telephone companies start getting nervous and clamping down on this?

I think my next project will be to get an old telephone reciever and put some plugs on it so I can plug it into the sound card. It will feel more natural than talking on a microphone and listen on the computer speakers.

I bet it is just a matter of time b4 they are selling USB phones to conect to your computer.

ynneb I will have to get my pc fixed first. I had to have amother board replaced and the tech messed everything up. I can't use my sound, cd rw nor my dvd. Soo as I get hooked up I will be giving you a call. I need a claim!!
