| Milton, There "used" to be one down past the airport in East Point somewhere near the junction of 285 and 85, but the last time I was there was years ago. Delta Electronics use to carry a lot of "stuff", but I think he is now just computer oriented. Don't know if he still has the store on Buford Highway. Other than that, I think most have gone the way of the Burma Shave signs

| It annoys me greatly that Radio Shack is really now just a Shack. When Tandy owned that store, they hired premium nerds. Nowadays they teach the employees to identify a cellular phone, an RC car, and thats about where it ends. Must it be local? Otherwise I'd reccomend http://www.fairradio.com/ or http://www.sciplus.com/ . |

| What kind of stuff are you looking for? I haven't been to these places in awhile (eBay and mail order being too easy), but they were my second homes a few years back. Austin Electronics 6050 Center Pl NW, NORCROSS, GA 30093 (770) 449-8697 Lots of prototyping stuff (IC Sockets, wirewrap, breadboards), switches, power supplies, wire, and a whole wall of crazy value resistors and capacitors which are fun to pick through. Wander around and pickup and handful of everything, write down the prices or just keep a running total. Ack Radio & Electronics Supply 554 Deering Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30309 (404) 351-6340 Home of Georgia Tech gEEks and all sorts of antenna-head people. Not really surplus, but they have just about everything ... know what you want before you get there (no browsing the aisles). Lots of specialized tools in stock. As a bonus, they put broken equipment out front for anyone to pickup and take home. Audio Lab of Georgia 3611 Clearview Place Doraville Ga 30340 770 455 0571 Specializing in audio equipment. They keep speakers (drivers), cross-over parts (large inductors/capacitors/resistors), and hard-to-find semiconductors in stock. Counter sales so no browsing, but very good staff. Not much "stuff", but good stock on audio equipment. Probably a good source for stepper motor ballast resistors since they carry high wattage ceramic resistors. CP |
