Hey all,
I have recently started a job/production shop in Orlando Fl., and I am slowly purchasing cnc equipment . I am not necessarily being frugal but I am tring to stay within my means in these hard times. So I got a good deal on a series I bridgeport mill w/ a Bandit controller in not so good condition. The Y driver board is completly shot, the Z is about to go and the X works fine. The motors are in good shape(steppers). The mill itself is in fine shape equipped w/ ball screws, rebuilt varispeed "J" head and what not (cnc ready...).
My intentions are to remove the Bandit and upgrade to a new controller and motors. I am looking for advisement and suggestions that would get me the most efficient and cost effective match for the Series I. Whether it be servo, stepper, pc based controller, oem, and whatever information I can get from this extraordinary knowledge base.
I have retrofitted a small mill and have a very good knowledge base for these systems but I am looking for th optimum match for the series one ie., stepper vs servo, voltage, amperage, torque, ratios, controller (pc or oem)etc..
If I could get links, threads, do's and don'ts and advice , it would be most appriciated. Also, I am relatively new to this forum, please advise if I am not in the correct forum category .
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Have a spectacular day!
