In certain cases where companies are looking for some experience, like 2 years or less, but the highest education they seek is either high school or certification, would a 2-year degree be considered enough to satisfy the required experience? I'm thinking, though, that an employer will want someone to have some experience working with CNC machines before doing all the programming work. |

| My son-in-law was going through the same thing but he was able to get on as an apprentice with a company he found through this machinist jobsite: http://www.machinistjobsite.com/Job_Seekers.php Hope it helps, and good luck to you! |

| It has been quite a while since I first posted this (typo in the title), but I wanted to let everyone know that it didn't take long to find employment. A company needing machinists who could also do the programming work was a bit short handed because everyone handing in resumes who had experience were not knowledgeable on the programming side, and so I was called, interviewed, and hired within a 3-hour period. Hired before I ever saw what their applications looked like. If anyone is reading this who is having a hard time finding work, but who can program, look for the companies who hire people who can do both. There are quite a bit less of us than there are of those who can just run the machines. |
