This should be the correct forum for non CNC and I am hoping there is at least one electrical engineer lurking about ;-} . Been doing some 3 phase power data logging at work to try and find what kind of loads we have in various sections of the building. There is almost always more than one feeder cable on each phase. This would be due to various physical constraints such as being able to actually handle the wiring during installation, etc. The clamps I have for amperage monitoring are only large enough to go around one cable. Am I measuring a fraction of the load or should each feeder cable read full load? I have gotten both answers, so I thought I would ask again here. Seems to me that it would be a fraction of: 1/(number of feeder cables) since that is one of the reasons for using more than one cable (size of load). tanks for replies |
