    Brand Spanking Newbie.....

    Hello Everyone!

I do not know what took me so long, but somehow got an itch to find out if there were any hobby or bench sized mills, and any communities online to learn...

I posted this on a locksmith forum, where I frequent, and this site was linked!

    Well, everyone starts somewhere/sometime!

I hope this is posting to the appropriate forum.

I have been using CNC key cutting equipment for a decade, but do none of the programming.

    :}

    Jeff

Hi Locksmithery! Welcome to the Zone!

So you want to buy a CNC benchtop mill? What is your budget? What do you want to do with it?

    Small parts

Metal engraving would be cool, if I can engrave keys deeply enough. Most ready-to-go tag and key engravers are CNC controlled SCRATCHING machines. I wish to get equivelent to a hand-stamp. Does not have to be extremely fast, as logn as I can make templates for different key headshapes and of course, I will be able to machine the key blank nests

    Wood Carving/Machining as well.

But what about the budget? I assume you want something that is ready-to-Go, not something you have to build or convert? How much are you willing to spend for this?

I dont have no stinkin budget!

But seriously, just jumped in on this topic.

Just liek everyone, I want the most bang for the least buck....

USA made a big plus, and prefer something I will not outgrow too fast.

There is a lot of used equipment out there, and super deals....but I have no room in my business to dedicate to a Bridgport.

The flexibility and inclusiveness will get budgeted for.

I got to get an idea of what is out there, what it can do..... maybe find someone that has one locally.....

The fully CNCd but ready for assembly $1700 DG1 Taig/Gecko is about the most bang for the buck and will actually do real work.
