Converting from stepper to Servo, need help..!

I'm new to your forum and I heard alot about your forum so I decided to register and ask for support, and I hope you help me

I have made with some of my freinds a three axis CNC machine with three stepper motos and it was controlled with the PC( Wood milling machine)

Know we are about to make another machine (2 axis flame cutting machine based ) , we decid to use Panasonic servo motors,Panasonic ervo drivers , Fagor indusial Panel 8035.

the machine will reag G code file and transfer it to the servo drivers>

Is there any thing else we should use to start working? , Is there any advices? , is there any materials for projects like this?

wait for your answers....

Yes

Yes

Yes.

The above reflects the answers to the 3 questions you posed.

There are a TON of discussion threads about building flame cutters and routers. Look some up and start reading them.

IN essence, your question is TOO broad. You have to be more specific. This is where the perusal of the search engine and/or some of the forums will be MOST helpful.

If you've already built a router, you already KNOW of some of the issues. Same ones apply to an extent. Same solutions should work. New ones will crop up.

As far as interfacing the devices you speak of, you'd better get all the manuals you can find. AFIK, Fagor is not a DIY sort of company. They integrate stuff via dealers/agents. Most don't take a liking to CNC hobbyist as they are industrial focused - actually, there ain't no money ind it for them with the DIY CNC'er.

THus, you may be somewhat on your own when integrating hard core industrial stuff.

This doesn't mean we can't help, it just means you'll have to be more specific in your questions.

I don't know where you would normally get support from in your area of the world, but Fagor Canada offer pretty good support, I have found them much better than Fanuc for support for the one-off retrofitter, almost as good as Mitsubishi .
The 8035 is a nice basic little control and if you have had some previous experience with CNC or retrofitting you should have no problem.
The PLC is fairly easy and based on Boolean Mnemonic commands, the other area is setting up the parameters for the servo's, that you may have to play with.
AFAIK the 8035 is not really Plasma/Flame cutter oriented so you may not get some of the commands that are cutting table specific.
Good Luck!
Al.

?
I may be mistaken as it was quite a while ago when I used a 8035, but I seem to recall it was just a general purpose control.
Generally you can order a commercial control that has the G codes and routines that are specific to the type of machine you are going to fit the controller to.
IOW, a lathe, Mill, Cutting Gantry, has the routines that suit the machines functions, for example the Lathe package would have Threading, constant surface speed, dia/radius programming etc.
In a general purpose control, either the machine-specific routines are not there and/or you may have to custom write a routine that you may need.
I would check and confirm this with Fagor first.

You could use the Fagro 8035 For you aplication. You have hi level prog to do any cicle you want. And you have all the software you need in the web even if you have to make and screen. It´s a very complete CNC.

Fagor - Todd is on a distinguished road

The 8035 is a compact CNC that was specifically built as a replacement for the GE Mark Century Ones, 8000, 8010, 8020 & 8025 compact generations. It is a G-code CNC only and is available with software specific milling or turning software. This is not a CNC we promote, it is more of a service department upgrade option for customers with the older controls.

Having said that, it is very capable of running a plasma machine and currently does. Fagor has sold no-less than 1000 controls in the USA directly to Plasma Arc Machine Tool Builders. Talk to your Fagor sales representative about your particular machines needs.

If you have any specific questions beyond what is already asked, I would be happy to help.

Sincerely,
Todd

There is an 8035 Gp too. But you can customize any of them.
