I agree that the kid may be subject to ridicule and harassment but I cannot agree that the parents should be jailed.

You run into a 'slippery slope' problem here; surely you are not advocating for a list of government approved names? Or are you saying that if you, or anyone, finds the name offensive you should have the right to impose your opinion on the parents?

Legislation to prevent this kind of thing might have the tendency to come around and bite you in the behind and be used/extended into other areas.

If you read the article referenced in post #1 you'll find that the "parents" are skinheads (Neo Nazi's) and thus not gifted with the same sensibilities most of us have as native equipment.

To further Geof''s statement, you cannot legislate intellect or disposition. At least not at this time. The near future could hold anything as certain proclivities can be witnessed on many campuses today as well as segments of the internet as political correctness evolves.

Taken from the article, "Campbell said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently." does not suggest he is a NeoNazi. "Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That's fine, I don't really care," he said. "That's his choice."
He appears not to have a deep seated hatred of other races, keeping in mind that several children of mixed race attended the childs birthday party, no self respecting skinhead would allow that. I think he just has appalling judgement, lack of intelegence and most probably did it to get a reaction and attention. The kids are the real victims here, they will grow up and face all kinds of negative reactions which will shape them into their adult life. I think there is an extremely high probability that later in life those kids will end up sueing someone, maybe even their own parents.
