Newbie here...saying Hi & a request you could say | | Hello All,
I'm am a recently new member to this forum, but have been visiting the website for a couple of months now. Compared to the other forums I belong too, this one seems great, a lot of information, personal opinions, and nice people. The last one is always nice to have in an on-line forum.
Anyways...a little bit about my background. Graduated from Suny Buffalo in '07 with a BA in Mechanical Engineering, YAY. Landed a job soon after with a contracting company that is associated with General Electric, YAY. Got a taste of the career life inside a cubicle, working too hard, and getting paid less than everyone around me, NAY!! So I resigned <----Positive word for quit.
So I decided, I really really don't want to go back to work for a corporation any time soon, and since this economy is in the gutter, I'm not really persuaded too. So why not do something I enjoy. What a great idea.
I like drafting/modeling and manufacturing/production, so I found myself looking into getting a CNC set up and offering my work out to whom ever.
Sorry for the long story, but like my title specifies, I have a request. I am looking for someone to show me their setup, i.e. machine shop. I have my ideal shop all in my head, but actually want to see one in action before I start building my own little nook. I am located in the upstate NY area, but will travel pretty far away for an educational experience. Just an hour or so. I have soooo many questions that I would like to ask in person. So if anyone want to show off their goods, let me know. I would very much appreciate it.
Regards till next time. |
