Voltage on the fan maybe?
A make/model of controller would help.
Al.
I am a newbie to CNC. We just got our machine and have started running it but the fan on the servo is not running.
Having trouble getting tech help from the company we purchase ti from so does anyone have an idea of what we can look for to correct this problem???
Thanks
Larry

Hi Al,
Thanks for the reply.
The make is a SEV hsd and model is AT/MT1073-070.
Just don't know where to start looking. Don't want to burn it up.
Thanks,
Larry
Not at all familiar with that control, but first check to see if voltage is on the fan, could be anywhere from 12vdc to 240vac.
Check for a label that will indicate specs.
If you have prints on the machine it would help, otherwise it is a case of reverse engineering.
If the voltage is there then the fan is either defective or something preventing it from running, spin the blade and see if it is free.
If no voltage, then you have to trace back further for the voltage source and and fuses etc.

Believe he is actually referring to his spindle motor....googled the model number, came back as a european spindle. Maybe the fan at the spindle not turning?
Hi,
We have the same spindle motor on our machine, were running ours 3 phase, its an Italian made self cooling Electrospindle, the exitech machines have them, check out the Exictech thead, there;s loads of info regards the electronics of these machines....might help, check our motors fan and its definatley sucking.

Shopbot uses that exact spindle. The fan is 24V DC, maybe 200mA or so. Got one sitting in the shop, just upgraded from a porter cable to the spindle and I just hooked it all up.
There should be a separate plug near the fan which needs to be connected to a 24V source. If you don't have one available, you may be able to use the internal 24V supply on the drive, depending on if it has one and how much current it will source.
If it is connected already, measure the voltage at the connector, then trace it back, checking for loose wires, blown fuses, etc.
FYI this is a high frequency spindle, as stated above, NOT a servo.
