It looks like a good program, but the version I downloaded says that it is a 15 day trial version and asks for a serial number.

Check out the terms. That program collects info from your computer and sends it back to Google.

    Creepy.

Were did you read that at?? This is from Google-

Are my documents, email, etc. sent to Google?

No. The contents of your email (or files, or chats, or anything else that you might find with Google Desktop Search) are never sent to Google or anyone else. Your Desktop Search results live only on your own computer.

As you know, Desktop Search is a very new program. We're working hard to improve it, and we hope that you'll help us out by letting us know how things are going. By default, Desktop Search sends non-personal information about things like the program's performance and reliability to Google (again, this doesn't send us copies of your documents or other personal information). You can turn this feature off at any time by visiting the Desktop Search Preferences page.
