Hello, I own a company in Canada that frequently purchases from McMaster-Carr in large volumes. Because of this they have allowed my account to exist beyond the days of "Export Regulations Violations" and even to this day, I'm allowed to have parts shipped directly to Canada. I'm considering starting a freight-forwarding service for international (Canadian and elsewhere) customers of McMaster-Carr, so that non-Americans can order and receive parts from McMaster-Carr. The parts will simply be relayed through myself. Who here would be interested in a service like that? The entire assembly would be automated via web, use McMaster-Carr's part numbers and payment would be made by CreditCard/PayPal/Epass/whatever. Net 30 terms could also be negotiated for certain clients. It would be as simple, from an user's perspective as ordering directly off McMaster-Carr. Obviously, to compensate the service for it's efforts we would impose a slight markup on McMaster-Carr's pricing (10%? 15%?) and the buyer would be responsible for all shipping costs. Given these terms, would YOU be a customer? Feel free to contact me via email or leave a message if you want to discuss any other particulars. Best regards, Ken Abelson |

| Absolutely. Paypal preferred payment method please and thanks. You will have to give some thought to return policy. I order carefully and never return a good item. However some other people........

| e.g. Misumi, Reid Supply, Stock Drive Products, and even local supply houses, like Grainger and B&T etc, to name a few, is there that much difference after paying 10%~15% and double shipping? Al.

| I also buy MCM all the time. But If you can get the product elsewhere (you always can with diligent research) it will be less expensive (product price anyway (shipping/handling/brokerage can be bad though)). MCM does not charge a brokerage fee - I don't know how they do it but they do it - On a side note Misumi USA also has a special $5.95 flat rate brokerage to Canadian customers (compare this to the $50 I pay to my agent). MCM has a HUGE advantage for me in ONE aspect - they have a massive selection of product and specialty items AND they have NEVER failed to get product to me NEXT DAY AM as standard delivery. Typically I deal with a crapload of emergency repairs and their service has been invaluable to me, but given a few extra days I can always get the same product elsewhere (read from Canadian suppliers/distributers). Delivery charge on boxed items (from MCM) I typically pay 8 - 20 dollars. Not to rain on anyones parade - because I am sure that people would still use your service and I mark-up material 25% and would charge a handling/administration fee to do a through-put sale.

SPD/SI isn't one stop shopping for my needs. However their website is a lot more helpful than mc-car. My small town is what we call 'out in the sticks' around here *. a half decent industrial supplier being a 3hr round trip, assuming Winnipeg has one. The easiest and cheapest way to get any hardware not meant for a plow is to have it shipped to a nearby American town. Unfortunately that parcel handler may soon be closing shop. I'm looking for new options. Maybe there's a Canadian option for motion products I'm overlooking. * Of course to most of Canada all of Manitoba is out in the sticks

| Stumbled on this thread. I would for sure liek a connection to Mcmaster items. (I live in Alberta). Any updates? Ken - are you operating a service? Geoff - can you expand on specifics re: "number of on-forwarders" Ken Abelson> I'm considering starting a freight-forwarding service for international (Canadian and elsewhere) customers of McMaster-Carr, so that non-Americans can order and receive parts from McMaster-Carr. The parts will simply be relayed through myself. Geoff/tumutbound> There are already a number of on-forwarders in the US who will provide this service. At the hobbyist level, an extra 10% will make a lot of difference. |

Hi Ken Abelson I am interested in acquiring packs of McMaster-Carr small metal threads. Can you supply to Australia? For future correspondence, do you have an email address? Kind regards, Trevor Briggs |

| Hi Ken, Were you able to set up something to handle International Orders from McMaster? I work for an International Construction Company and we have a need to order from McMaster. As others have said, McMaster closed our account when we told them we do International Construction. I would be interested in discussing this more with you. Please send me an e-mail. Regards, Mark |
