Work Tables

[Hack]

We are looking to replace our current assembly tables at work and are looing for some ideas or perhaps links to manufactures that my sell something similar to what we are looking for. Our current tables are home made out of angle iron and are getting quite worn. The are about 36" wide 10' long and 36" tall. They have casters on all 4 corners so that we can wheel them around as needed. The wheels get alot of use. Problem we have other then they need replaced (the carts as a whole - 15+ years old) is that they are wonderful while being used, but in the way when not. I am picturing in my mind some sort of collapsable or RTA type cart that can handle the weight and stresses that are put on them and also be easily disassembled and stored out of the way when not used. We routinely put 2000 lbs or so on them on them roll them around so flexing is a big issue. Does anyone know of or use something that might fit the bill?

The only thing I can think of that doesn't need to be made from scratch is Pallet racking.

Dexion Pallet racking

is one supplier.

It can be cut to any hight and there are different spans to suit as well as not being hard to put some wheels on.

Maybe you can get some ideas from the fold up style engine hoist that are sold these days. I just recently purchased one and it's rated for 2000 lbs. It has fold up legs and hydraulics that allow it to store in about 1/2 the space.
