What type of machine??? And what doesn't work with the 8400???? These controls were late 80's, early 90's.....lots of them out there.
The automated welcoming software want me to post something so here goes. If this should be in a different forum, please let me know. I am new to posting here.
I have an A/B 8400 MP that is not presently working. I would like to repair or replace it. I would appreciate any information. If it's not practical to repair or replace, I need to upgrade. There is a swing arm tool changer and I use Bobcad software. I welcome any suggestions from actual users. It's difficult to sort through manufacturer's hype, but there have to be thousands of real user-year experience in this group.
TIA

The mill is a Shizuoka ANS. The display is dim and fuzzy and, most important at this point, the controller won't boot.
Yes, there are lots of 8400s, but the prices people want for repair parts is ludicrous.....$1000 for a monitor (I used to buy similar one for <$100), $2000 to retrofit a $150 LCD, $900 for a keyboard, etc., etc., etc..
There are very few people that I can find that know anything about them. I would prefer to repair because: 1-they do work and 2-I have several years invested in learning to program them.
I would appreciate any information about where to buy a working controller or a good inexpensive update. I'm looking at the MachMachine now and it looks like it might be a practical upgrade.
If it won't boot, it may be as simple as the CMOS Battery (I believe there was one in the 8400's, but remembering at my age has become the hardest part) or the power supply. Search the web for parts.....there are routers that used same control, I knew a couple of places that were selling 8400 stuff after Fagor upgrades.
adams j3 I too am in the same position that you are. my machine will not boot either all I get is a checking memory then nothing.
as for your problem check to see if your monitors power supply is leaking any eratic voltages I donnt have this problem but was asked to check for this problem when there was nothing visible on my monitor Iwas told the caps will dry out after many years and leack a/c voltages that will cause problems.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am using an external monitor for testing.
