| Hi, guys, I'm new here and found this site out of desperation. I want to expand my metalwork hobby to CNC work but to import a CNC Plasma table to South Africa will cost me in the region of ZAR 150 000. That's a whole years salary and then some. The only alternative is build one myself but I'm gonna need lots of help, Where do I start ? |

gerrieg The best one could hope for is to find this place...The are tons of information here to help...Probably first is to determine what size work you will be doing. A lot are using a 4x8 foot table for plasma. and driving it with belts, screws or rack and pinion. Electronics and driving hardware are your biggest out of pocket expenses. You can use free software for now but I highly recommend Mach software if you can afford it.. Great support here for that product. What resources do you have to work with? Some amazing projects have been accomplished from a little ingenuity. Start a build and the fantastic minds here on the Zone will help you to complete it. Bob If you dont know just ask |
