This is my first post.
Great site. I have been doing a lot of research. Interesting that the majority of the hits point me back here.
I am looking at bulding a 4x8 router table. Thought about making a smaller one to learn on, but too impatient for that.
My preference is to use ball screws on each of the xyz axis. Servos for the drive motors. Will likely us a large porter cable router to start rather than buying a new spindle.
Metal table with mechanical drippers will need to suffice. Don't have the power or cash for a decent vaccuum system.
I have the tools and skills to do metal fabrication.
My greatest weakness is with the electronics. While I am fairly savy with house wiring, I wouldn't have a clue how to build a controller or ladhup the servos.
What do most people do in my situation? Are there suppliers that will provide a system that meets my requirements / specifications?
Also, what should I expect for cost. Several people on the web have indicated they are into it for $8k to $10k. Is that reasonable?
Sorry for all the questions. Hopefully my qustions will be more specific in the future.
Thanks in advance.
