    NMIC

Is anything NMIC?Translation:Not Made In China!
I received THK BK ballscrew end support blocks and the bearings are made in China.Routers from China can arrive without grease nipples and swarf.
I have had those cool energy efficient fluorescent tubes explode.
Birch ply from China is almost round when you cut the steel strapping, Apparently they forgot the cross banding in the plywood.
WalMart is over 90% Chinese products. In fact WalMart has stores in China.
Just saw on the news automobiles from China will cost $4.500.Hope they remember automobiles require brakes.North America has high standards to pass for our manufacturing. Why imports seem to bypass UL is beyond me.
I am guilty!I buy Chinese drill bits.I have had them bend.Never heard in my 40 years in business of a drill bit bending, snapping yes.
By the time automobiles arrive at 4,500 I will be broke anyways.

What about the imported toys from China, lead based paint, those toys that turned into a drug similiar to GBH that left three kids unconcious and in hospital in Australia and two in coma's in Canada.

We seem to prefer as a collective marketplace inferior products that are cheap. We are all guilty, but I wonder at what long term cost.

One of the reason's I built a CNC wood router was to make better quality toys for my kids, ones that will last and not send them to hospital.

Larry, you can save even more by buying a Tata Nano for $2,500 made in India. Maybe they'll take Canadian money. Latest rumor was India will not accept US dollars.

Hi Larry - I hear you loud and clear. My daughter's cat died from their creative mixture of melamine sawdust (you know, the white stuff on cabinet doors) and flour, which was "substituted" for wheat glueten. Cost us big time in vet bills, ruined carpet, and of course, dealing with a family pet loss.

Maybe you will have more luck in Canada stopping the crazy ness of MIC. Our local state govenor, the congress, and maybe more all seem to have been bought off by the Chinese. They seem to think importing from China is a great idea.

What, you don't wanna buy one of these? :

They failed the crash tests with flying colors!

I think it's a fact of life. They make stuff cheaper than anyone else. If you want something not made in China, you will pay big time for it, but then again, you get what you pay for....usually.

    Paul

Edit: I've been to several Walmarts IN China, just for curiosity sake. The fresh meat department looks more like a pet store. Not knocking what they eat, it was a real experience. Does you local Walmart stock cooked whole chickens vac wrapped on the shelf, non refrigerated? I'm sure they are delicious...

A customer of mine is from China and on his last visit purchased a container of pro lighting gear. The follow spot lights had no optics. The source5 led lights had low output besides 40 of 100 were wired in correctly.Moral of the story,Even if you are from China you can get burned.I am in the loudspeaker business and must admit Chinese drivers were crap 10 years ago,but to day they can surpass European technology. If they get it together on quality control we have to worry.I am not against Chinese people,I have many Chinese friends, but I am against unfair competion. It costs mucho denero to meet pollution standards here and in the USA,an issue China ignores.
I suppose the thread is now in the wrong place.Perhaps Benny will re-direct.
If I could only get Chinese beer at$.20 a bottle I would be happy or intoxicated.

Who wired the 40% lights Larry? That's pretty shody if it's Canadian made.It soulds like they were bought from China. We buy a variety or products from China in bulk. Some products are outstanding in quality and price (evacuated glass solar water heater tubes) and some is total crap (chinese power balls that rattle your arm to death!) Some is decent, some never shows up, or shows up with a box full of bricks. You never really know who your dealing with.

Apple computers are made in China. The difference is, they are thoughtfully designed, then they go offshore and actively hunt factories that can produce the quality and quantity that they are seeking. It's definately a factor of manufacturing cost, if that has to do with the environmetal levies, your the boss. I know that they polute pretty heavily since I've flown over China several times. The yellow fog just dosen't look natural.

I hear you on the cheap beer. Some also drink at lunch on a regular basis. Is this why some Chinese tooling is loose toleranted and poorly finished?? Any one for a Tsingtao?

How about trying to cold start one at -30 C?
The belt driven transmission were designed here in Canada probably similar to a snowmobile belt drive. The Tata Nano will replace a lot of Vespas in the next few years.

    Nano nano everyone!
