A Machinist Christmas

Saturday night i was staying late while someone finished a g job.
I got bored and wrote this on the message board

'Tis the season


'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the shop
Machinists were working even though they wished they were not
It was a raw deal more than they could bear
Their parts were messed up but they just didn't care
When from behind the saw there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my mill to see what was the matter
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a drunk old wino with a bag and some beer
His stomach was bloated and he smelled rather bad
It was the holiday season and it made me feel sad
He won this time without even a fight
i told him "you can stay here but just for tonight"
I glimpsed into his eyes and started to feel sick
For this was none other than jolly old saint Nick
What was he doing here? something was askew
He said "the chinese took over, there was nothing i could do"
"They make things so cheap, they just give it away"
"They closed my toy shop, and repoed my sleigh"
This was not right it just could not stand
I grabbed the others to lend up a hand
The drill bits were turning the endmills were cutting
I saw the twinkle in his eyes and knew he had something
He said "who needs a sleigh i can use a forklift"
"It may not go fast but it will hold lots of sh*t"
The toys were deburred and moving ahead
Next we would paint them and we did not use lead
When the toys were loaded he started the fork truck
He hit the gas, swerved, and we knew he was drunk
He straightened out and left through the door
It would take more than luck for cops to ignore
As we watched the tail lights fade off in the night
he slurred "merry Christmas to all"
"do i know the way i think i just might"
