As a Boss who has been faced with similar situations I have found the best response is to just mutter; "oh, you bloody idiot" then wander off shaking my head and never refer to it again.
Well tonite I really goofed, you see where I work I am very fortunate to have a very flexible job(hours), so tonite when I went in, I finished re-tapping some heat treated molds, broke two taps in the process, not a big deal, took me awhile to clear them out but finished that off. Then I was supposed to grind some ejector pins down however the machinist who had lined me up to do it also had the only pin grinding jig in use , so I had no jig, I tried for 45 minutes to rig something up but the sound as I started grinding sounded a little scary so I opted not to grind anything(I work nites alone so safety is a big concern to me). And I went ahead and clocked out, as I was leaving, the machinist from the company next to us stopped by(we have free Barnie's coffee)anyway told him my dilema and of course he should me a quite easy way to have completed my task however I had already clocked out and tools were put away. Now I,m home thinking "Damn it when the boss gets in he,s not going to be too happy that for 5 1/2 hours I removed 2 broken taps and plugged 12 holes and no ejector pins done". Well just had to get that off my chest, my boss is actually pretty kool but I hate to think that I could have gotten a little more done and I cut out a little too early. Anyway whoever reads this, thanx for letting me cry on your shoulder.

An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
Haha, Mine always goes well **** happens time to move on.
I'm young and I'm just trying to learn from people that know.
Hopefully tommorrow is a better day, we have all been there.
Well what ya know , the boss was pretty chipper today even apologized for not havin enough work for me the night before. However I had to sandblast a mold for the first time tonite( I think this might have been punishment in disguise) needless to say a shower was definetly needed afterwards.
Hey ZipSnipe,
When grinding those ejector pins on the diameter, you have to use something to keep the pin from vibrating. I trick that the old timer that I learned from used to use was a piece of the metal banding that holds the crates together around mold bases. He would cut a piece of that banding and bend it so that it would press up against the bottom of the pin as he was grinding the diameter, worked like a charm.
As for the sandblasting of the mold, did you have the luxury of a blast cabinet, or did you ahve to take it outside and use the hopper blaster? I remember those days. Always seemed that the mold had to be sand blasted first thing in the morning and I had to walk around spitting sand or glass beads out all day.
