CACR SR or PR

Anybody using Yaskawa CACR drives? Also which is the better drive for XYZAB positioning on a machining center with PMAC2 NC2.36.

Cool Forum BTW

SR = Speed Control
PR = Positioning Control
I have used Yaskawa drives but never the CACR.
My answer will work with any drive.
I only use Speed control drives with PMACs. Let the PMAC do all the work that is what it is designed to do.
Also it there a reason you are using a PMAC2 and not a PMAC? Same with NC 2.36 Delta Tau's older program.

I love the ultra smooth PMAC when configured properly. I really want to disable most oll of the limit flags and alarms and let pmac do that also.

I acquired most of the hardware and software surplus. I am the most familiar with the PMAC2. As for the nc software I am afraid I will pay a fortune to upgrade the NC2.36

Actually I like NC 2.36. That is the software I like installing but Delta Tau is trying to discontinue it. Their new NC software also requires the Turbo PMAC's I am nut sure why they did that.
As for the PMAC vs PMAC2 I was just wondering.

Ron22, from what I understand the pmac2 will commutate where the pmac will not. Also The pmac2 has the DPR on board and the pmac needs an acc board to accomplish this. I understand NC 2.36 will not run without the dual port ram option but I have never tried it.

Do you know if adv600.plc is the beginning of the files I have to modify if I want to use native i/o's for operator functions. In other words I would like to use the operator controls on the retrofit without purchasing the advantage board. If this is true can you direct me to a list of io addresses that are native to say the acc 8e board. I have read, i think, every line of documentation they produce on all of the boards and I cannot find these addresses.

Thanks

Yes basically that is the difference.

DPR = Dual Port RAM
Not totally true newer old ISA PMAC used a separate card. Newer PCI PMAC's boards have the DPR on main card.

You need the daul port Ram
