Yes I am a pedantic old fart. There is something really small that bothers me. Oh so petty I am. When someone askes "What measurment do you use, metric or inches ?", the inches part of the question is wrong. Inches is a unit of measurement and not the description of measurment system itself. The question should be "Do you use Metric or Imperial ?" Here is a rediculous example of what they are really asking. "Do you eat fruit or carrots?" it should be "Do you eat fruit or vegetables?" Yes yes, I need to get a life. Sorry |

| I am sorry but I think someone must have put something in my cookies this morning. I am just wondering if you prefer to ride motor bikes, or drive a Black Ford V8 4 door sedan with fluffy dice hanging from the mirror? Slap me, do anything, but just dont call it inches. Im booked in to see the shrink later 2day. EDIT: Did I mention the Ford had a 4 speed gearbox and a limited slip diff, and a sound system that is guaranteed to punch out neighbours windows 4 blocks away? Forgive me, I should have been more specific ! |

| benny - How about tomAAto vice tomAHto ---- fruit or vege? Why don't we just call it the American system! The poms (imperialists) gave up on inches, pounds, and gallons as well. Too bad - the inch is one unit of measure most of us walk about with in our pockets!

| he he, High Seas, I wouldn't want to count on those pocket inches as a world standard though. If we built our machines based on them, the machines may get a lot smaller depending on how cold the climate was. Good first post for you IJ. I notice you are from my part of town, maybe its the area that makes us POF's ( Pedantic old farts) Pack Rat, that reminds me, when you go to install a new Windows OS it asks if you want American English or British English. This option if for the Americans who cant handle the fact that their language came from another country. I am indebted to America for inventing the English language.
