| Would any Salvagnini S4 / P4 or Trumpf programmers have any interest in sharing information about these machines? I thought it may be handy to compile a list of e-mails and who has what machine to possibly ask for help or tips to make our job easer. Currently I program the following: Salvagnini S4 (SDE) Salvagnini S4 (SDEX) Two Salvagnini P4’s Trumpf 600 L Trumpf 500 Trumpf 200 I also have a good understanding of the Trumpf 2020 and Trumpf 5000. You can review my home page for other machines. Independent CNC Programmer www.ctcn.net/~3kings/ |

| I now have more machines / software that can be added to my list. Machines: Trumpf 2030 (this should cover most of the Trumpf’s laser flatbed machines) Trumpf 260 Finn-Power Shear Genius Software: NC Express (Finn-Power) Metal Studio (Salvagnini) MetalNest (Salvagnini) Independent CNC Programmer www.ctcn.net/~3kings/ |

| Thanks! Are you using the Salvagnini software to generate your P4 programs or do you write them by hand? Independent CNC Programmer www.independentcnc.com My mission is to share CNC programming innovations for a lifetime. |

Hi, I produce all the programs by hand as the Salvagnini Software is very limited to what it can do and they told us not to waste our money on it. As i work for a subcontract manufacturing unit we don't no what work is new work is coming so we have to be very flexible with our machines. I also use ABS programming a lot to produce special bending profiles which normal cannot be made on the Salvagnini. |

| The software I use is really good for getting the reference line correct and setting up the correct format for the bend lines. I can also generate a graphic view with the code to aid the operators.(see link below) All the fine-tuning is made at the machine. I agree Salvagnini software is hard to justify. I see what you mean now with the software. But to be honest we have dxf files for all of our parts that we manufacture, so i can sit a home and write a program in note pad and load them straight on the machine and it will be right 1st time. I have done hundreds of different profiles, electrical box's, cabinets using standard bending, box fold bending , radius bending, with and without option-p. I develop new designs for all different sectors of the market. We have made parts on our P4 that Salvagnini Austria don't think can be made on it. So sometimes you mind can produce thing's software will not even think about. Also i find it great fun to come up with new bending profiles, which we offer to our customers to use of there products. I don't no if you are aware but there is a new software release going out to certain customers who have had problems with the life of the bending tools, this has a extra bending mode, MODE 2 which will become the standard bending mode not MODE 1. We have been told it will help the life of the bending tools. We have had all our bending tools replaced 3 times in the past two and half years. And every six months upper and lower bending blades are shimmed to get the radius correct in the center area of the machine about 1 meter long. We run our machine 24hrs a day 7 days a week, we have produced over million components on the machine so far averaging around 7000 per week. And our average batch size is only about 50 parts. Do you have a problems with life of bending blades on your machine? Best Regards David |

The main reason I have set up software to write the code for the P4 is to eliminate the human error. They are an easy program to write, however, if a wrong number is typed in there is a chance of damaging the machine. We run 16 and 14 gauge cold rolled and have only replaced our blades once in the last 8 years. We also run 24/7. Thanks for the information I will check into the MODE 1 and MODE 2. I do the programming for the Salvagnini P4 and S4. We also run 24/7 for the past 5 years and just starting to notice wear on the blankholder; not the upper or lower bending blades. The laser we are still working the bugs out we just got it about 4 months ago. I also write the programs for 28 Amada's in our facility. |

| I have customized WE-CIM to generate Salvagnini P4 programs for my current employer and one of my customers. Attached is a sample of what I have done. If you are comparing it to the Salvagnini programming software it may not be better just easer to use. http://www.ctcn.net/~3kings/SampleP4...1_image001.png Independent CNC Programmer http://www.independentcnc.com/ My mission is to share CNC programming innovations for a lifetime. |

| I currently program 3 P4's and and one of them is the new X machine. We also have a Roboformer and 3 S4's, one of those is the new X machine also. Every thing that we do is with the Salvagnini software and it has been wonderfull. I use CamBend software on a daily basis and it works very well for me. Yes there are a few things that the software can not do but Salvagnini is constantly updating the software and it gets better and more versitile every few months. As for updating the P4's from Mode 1 to Mode 2 bending it is not possible, we already asked. The new Mode 2 is only on the newest X generation machines and it consists of completly new bending formulas for the machine from what I understand. I also do a significant amount of ABS programming and theraly enjoy it. ABS is point by point positioning of the bending blades and tooling for bending profiles that are not achievable with standard programming. When we got our first P4, Salvagnini would not enable the ABS untill we had the machine for about a year. Somthing to do with geting to know th equipment before letting me program this way. I can understand why because I've put the upper bending blade on the upper slope of the tooling and left marks on the tooling from it. Luckaly nothing got damaged. Independent CNC, the example of the WI-CIM doesn't tell me a whole lot. It's a nice graphical but how does it work? Does it write the program for you or just the DIM and REF lines? |
