I know the 3.25hp Porter Cable 7518 is a good router, but at 350.00 it is a little expensive for the DIY sometimes. I ran across this Hitachi 3.25 HP var. speed same amp as the P.C. may be a cheaper alternative to the above. http://www.toolbarn.com/product/hitachi/M12V2/ I know the Hitachi 2.25 hp i use now i have had no problem at all with it and still works great. | Very interesting router. I wonder if the variable speed control can be hacked to be driven by a d/a converter port on the computer. Edited: That is, the electronic variable speed on the Hitachi router. Someone should buy this router and start tearing it apart. |

Well the wireing is in the handle so should be easy to get to. |

| I have a Ridgid 2.25 hp with variable speed and feed back to keep it at the set speed no matter the load. I have considered getting in there and adapting it to be controlled from Mach 3. So far the router is one bad hummer |
