Power supply

is there a way to use one power supply and gecko controlers on 2 machines at different times? I have a mill converted and want to build a wood router and thought there might be a way to do this as to save some money and time building another suppy setup.

Well I not an electrical person but could you put a switch in and would resistant be an issue I don't know

I used a single supply and three geckos(g320s) for running both my shoptask and a mini-lath/mill. I had two profiles in Mach2/3, one for each machine. The mini-lath/mill, having smaller motors, but larger count encoders required a little motor tuning of the gecko pots when switching over the motor and encoder cables which had identical connectors. I had thought about building a switchbox to redirect the cabling, but instead fiddled with putting together another power supply and bought extra geckos over time.

It all depends if the systems are closely matched. The lath/mill shoptask was just about matched for the supply and servo motors, but the mini-lath/mill servos were just a bit small for the supply voltage.....but it worked keeping the speed down and away from full power of the supply output. The motors only got warm.

I am going to use the same servo motors and pully setup on both machines . sounds like it may work till I get the funds to make another power supply and 3 more geckos and eventually have seperate computers and all some day. Thanks for the quick replys.
